Ashleigh Keilar

Support Coordinator

Ashleigh is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Social Work at ECU and has completed a Diploma in Community Services, a Diploma in Business Administration, and Cert 3 and 4 in Business Administration through South Metro TAFE. She has also undertaken training in a variety of areas including supporting people through a trauma lens, ASIST (suicide response and intervention), Wesnet Safe Connections core training, culturally competent practices (particularly with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals), and mental health first aid, among others.

With 5 years of experience in the human services industry, Ashleigh’s journey began as a private disability support worker for 3 years, supporting clients in the community and at their homes. She then spent 2 years working as a refuge advocate in the family and domestic violence sector, supporting women and children in emergency accommodation and therapeutic accommodation services. Starting as a student in 2022, Ashleigh worked across both refuges and in the main community services building, assisting women with early intervention services following incidents of family and domestic violence and supporting those with complex mental health, physical, or cognitive disabilities, addiction issues, and trauma impacts.

Outside of work, Ashleigh enjoys gardening, gaming (including Sims, Minecraft, and Animal Crossing), thrift and op shopping, exploring nature, scrapbooking, Pilates, and spending time with her two pet bunnies.

Fun Fact: Ashleigh is a massive animal lover and previously pursued animal studies, completing student placements at various veterinary clinics. She has worked with a wide range of animals, including dogs, cats, rabbits, horses, birds, and native animals like kangaroos and blue-tongue lizards.
